Paper Alert: Ecological insights from field and laboratory studies of Akashiwo sanguinea

Using years of data from an ocean time series supported by Southern California Coastal Observing System (SCCOOS) and the Central & Northern California Ocean Observing System (CeNCOOS), our Bailey College undergraduate students Jaden Hansen and Eva Kokkino helped explore the dynamics of Akashiwo sanguinea in SLO Bay along the California Central Coast. Akashiwo sanguinea is a marine dinoflagellate that can form harmful algal blooms (HABs) in coastal waters. Read the peer-reviewed article here.
